Communications Manager

Emily Shanahan is the Communications Manager at the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation, bringing nearly a decade of nonprofit experience and a deep passion for strengthening families, building vibrant communities, and creating brighter futures for children.

Before joining the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation, Emily was the Primary Prevention Manager at New Hampshire Children’s Trust, where she played a key role in facilitating the Family Resource Center Quality (FRC-Q) designation and collaborated with local Family Resource Centers to strengthen programs that support families across NH. Emily also spent five years as the Outreach and Communications Director at Communities for Alcohol- and Drug-Free Youth (CADY), where she designed outreach materials, led campaigns, and built key relationships to support substance misuse prevention initiatives locally and statewide.

As a mom to a young daughter, she is deeply invested in the Foundation’s mission of shaping a future where all women and girls can thrive. Emily is passionate about using the power of storytelling and strategic communication to inspire action, uplift voices, and create lasting change.

She lives in Plymouth with her family and enjoys walking, reading, spending quality time with family and friends and creating special memories with her daughter.
