Susan Werner Thoresen
Susan Werner Thoresen is an author and former financial advisor, and has been an active community leader and advocate for gender equality, the arts, and reproductive health on the Seacoast for more than 50 years. She was a Founder and Treasurer of the Women’s Fund of New Hampshire and has served on numerous boards, including the League of Women Voters and the Portsmouth YWCA, and has served in a variety of volunteer leadership roles at her alma mater, Smith College. Sue was a delegate to the 1974 New Hampshire Constitutional Convention, where she was lead sponsor to make the state Constitution gender neutral by changing the wording all MEN to PEOPLE. Sue and her husband, Bob, have been generous philanthropists to many organizations and have served in multiple volunteer capital campaign roles for several Seacoast organizations. The Thoresens have a passion for building the sustainability and longterm assets of nonprofit organizations they support and in 2015 they chaired a campaign to increase the NHWF’s endowment. Sue’s lifetime of leadership, philanthropy and activism have had left an unparalleled imprint on her community and the many organizations she supports.
